Lake Tuggeranong Lions Clubs Project
Auction Dinner Dance
29th August 2009, 7:30pm
The Lions Club of Canberra Lake Tuggeranong holds
an Annual Auction and Dinner Dance in support of local children with disabilities (e.g.
cerebral palsy) and are seeking assistance from the Community.
We are a non-profit organisation
comprised entirely of volunteers, who are active in the community and our focus is on
assisting people with disabilities.
Since the club was
established in 1994, we have actively supported various charities including:
- Hartley Life Care;
- Koomari;
- Lifeline Canberra;
- Lions Sight First Campaign;
- Lions Childrens Mobility Foundation;
- Lions Eye Health Project;
- The Cancer Council;
- Hearing Dogs;
- Guisers Creek Fire Brigade;
- And many more
We would greatly appreciate your
support of our event by donating an item for auction, and/or attending our function on 29 August 2009.
Ticket sales will be available from May 2009.
On the night, your donation will be
auctioned
to help raise much needed funds to improve the quality of life for local children with
disabilities and their families.
An example of how the money raised
may be used is to purchase a Hartwalker that will allow a child suffering from Cerebral
Palsy to walk unaided for the first time in their life. These devices are not government
funded and one unit costs $6620 to purchase, with an additional $1000 each year for
maintenance and adjustments which for the duration of its use, equates to between $11,000
and $15,000.
